D is for Dilution

On day 2 of this challenge I introduced you to Blends, and said that when making a blend for a massage with a base oil, the general rule of thumb, is to add half the number of drops of essential oil, to the amount of base oil. 20 mls = 10 drops. We will discuss notes later on in this challenge, but for today I want to give you some idea of how you may want to alter the ratio of the diluted oils according to the time of day that you are using them.

The same would go for using these oils in a burner or bath.

This table gives an idea of making a blend depending on the amount of base oil and notes:

Time of Day Base Oil mls Top Note EO (drops) Middle EO (drops) Base Note EO (drops)
Morning 10/20 2/4 2/4 1/2
Middle of Day 10/20 2/3 2/5 1/2
Evening/Night 10/20 1/2 2/4 2/4
Morning 50 12 8 5
Middle of the Day 50 9 10 6
Evening/Night 50 5 10 12
Morning 100 20 20 10
Middle of the Day 100 15 20 15
Evening/Night 100 10 20 20
